SKINVIVE (Microdroplet Hyaluronic Acid)
SKINVIVE is a brand name for a hyaluronic acid product designed to be placed in the skin, not under it. It is intended for skin quality, such as smoothness and hydration, rather than for volume. Because the name is a brand, ask the doctor what is actually in the syringe.
How it works
A smooth, cohesive gel is injected as many tiny droplets in the skin of the cheeks and sometimes other areas. The gel binds water and may improve hydration, smoothness and glow. Its effects are gradual and mild, and in studies the benefit was described over several months, though results vary by person. A single session is commonly planned, and repeat treatment is advised by the doctor. It does not lift or fill, so it suits skin quality concerns only.
Who it may suit
- Dry or dull cheek skin
- Fine surface lines and rough texture
- Skin that lacks bounce or smoothness
- People who want a subtle result with brief downtime
The treatment day
- Skin assessment. The doctor looks at hydration and texture and asks about allergies and previous fillers.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied, and the product itself contains a mild anesthetic.
- Microdroplet injections. Tiny amounts are placed in many points across the cheeks or the chosen area.
- Aftercare. The skin is cleaned, and written advice and the follow-up plan are given.
Aftercare
- Do not rub or massage the face for the first day.
- Small bumps usually settle within a day or two.
- Avoid makeup for several hours, and skip saunas and hard exercise for a day or two.
- Use gentle skincare and sunscreen.
- Take dated photos to check changes over the following weeks.
Things to know first
- Redness, bumps, bruising, tenderness and mild swelling are common after injection.
- Lumps, a bluish tint, infection and allergic reactions are uncommon but possible.
- The product contains lidocaine, so tell the doctor about allergy to numbing medicines.
- Postpone during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if the treated skin is infected or inflamed.
- Results are subtle, build gradually and vary by person.
Talking through SKINVIVE in English
Ask the doctor to explain in plain English what the product is and how it differs from a filler. A good answer is that it goes in the skin, not under it, and it aims for smoothness. If you are hoping for a lifted look or fuller cheeks, say so, since this treatment is not made for that.
Ask how many injection points are planned, which areas will be treated and how the session is spaced. Mention allergy to lidocaine, cold sores, past fillers and blood-thinning medicine. Ask when small bumps and bruises should fade, especially if you will fly or attend an event soon after.
Terms you may hear: microdroplet, intradermal, HA (hyaluronic acid), skin quality and glow. Ask for the product name and lot number in your notes. If you want to compare it with other boosters, ask the doctor to explain the difference in simple terms.
SKINVIVE (Microdroplet Hyaluronic Acid): common questions
Will it add volume to my cheeks?
No. It is meant to improve skin quality, not to add volume. A regular filler is used for that.
How many sessions does it need?
Often one, with repeat treatment as the doctor advises. Ask what is planned for your skin.
Do I need to tell the doctor about numbing allergy?
Yes. The product contains lidocaine, so mention any allergy before treatment.
