Vbeam
Vbeam from Candela is a 595 nm pulsed dye laser. Learn how to ask about redness, bruising settings, and visits in English.
How it works
Vbeam is a pulsed dye laser made by Candela, with a wavelength of 595 nm. Hemoglobin in blood absorbs this yellow light, so the energy heats small vessels near the surface and may reduce visible redness. The laser can be used at settings that leave bruising (purpura) or at gentler settings that usually do not. A cooling burst is often released just before each pulse. Results vary by person.
Good to know
- Ask whether your plan uses bruising settings or non-bruising settings.
- A cooling spray is typically part of the handpiece.
- A rubber-band snap sensation is common.
- Swelling, redness, bruising, or crusting may follow.
Asking about Vbeam in English
The word "purpura" may come up. It means bruise-like marks. Ask the doctor whether purpura is expected in your plan, how long it may last, and whether it is a good choice before a trip or a photo.
Ask the coordinator to confirm "Vbeam by Candela." Then ask how many visits are suggested and how far apart. Keep a photo diary taken in the same light, and save the aftercare sheet for use at home.
