Oxygen Facial
An oxygen facial combines cleansing with a stream of pressurized oxygen and serum across the face. It is comfortable and has few side effects. The glow people notice is usually short-term, so it suits a day before an event or as a gentle treat during a trip.
How it works
After cleansing, a handpiece sprays a fine stream of oxygen mixed with a serum, often containing hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid or vitamins. The air pressure helps spread the product over the skin surface. The serum does not go deep into tissue. Any plumper, fresher look is mainly from hydration and the light massage effect, and it varies by person.
Who it may suit
- Dry, tired-looking skin before an event or photos
- People who want a relaxing, no-downtime visit
- Skin that cannot take stronger peels or lasers right now
- A treat on the day after a long flight into Seoul
- Add-on care after extractions or exfoliation
The treatment day
- Short skin talk. You describe your skin and any allergies. Mention fragrance or ingredient sensitivities.
- Cleansing. Makeup and oil are removed, and the skin may be lightly exfoliated.
- Oxygen and serum spray. A handpiece moves over the face and releases a cool stream of oxygen and serum. It feels like a light breeze.
- Mask and sunscreen. A mask may be applied for some minutes, followed by moisturizer and sunscreen.
Aftercare
- Keep skin moisturized and use sunscreen.
- You can usually apply makeup after the session unless told otherwise.
- Avoid harsh scrubs for the rest of the day.
- Ask what the serum contained, in case you need to avoid an ingredient later.
Things to know first
- Rarely, a serum ingredient can cause redness, itching or a rash. Tell the staff about allergies in advance.
- It is not a treatment for acne scars, deep wrinkles or pigmentation.
- The visible glow is generally temporary.
- Avoid it on broken or infected skin, and mention any active cold sore.
- Evidence for lasting benefit is limited, so treat it as a comfort treatment.
Talking through an oxygen facial in English
The name sounds medical, so ask plain questions. "What goes in the serum? Is it only for hydration? Will my skin be red afterwards?" A clear answer should be short and specific. Be wary of claims that a single session will transform your skin for good.
Because it has no downtime, timing is easy. Many visitors book it for the last evening in Seoul or the day of a photo shoot. Ask staff whether they suggest doing it before or after other treatments in your plan.
If you want to compare it with a HydraFacial or LED care, ask the coordinator to explain the difference in one sentence each. Note the answers and decide later.
Oxygen Facial: common questions
Does it actually put oxygen into my skin?
The device sprays oxygen and serum onto the surface. The skin is not filled with oxygen, and the benefit is mainly from hydration and gentle massage.
Can I do it while pregnant?
Ask the clinic. Many gentle facials are possible, but the serum ingredients should be checked first.
How long does the glow last?
Usually a short time, from a day to a few days. It varies by person.
Is it okay right before a flight?
Usually yes because there is no downtime, but a hydrating cream on the plane helps.
