Discovery Pico
Discovery Pico from Quanta System offers picosecond and Q-switched modes. Here is how to ask about modes in English.
How it works
Discovery Pico is a laser platform made by Quanta System. It can work in picosecond mode and in Q-switched Nd:YAG mode, so one machine covers more than one pulse length. The provider may choose a mode based on the concern, such as pigment, tone, or tattoo color. Shorter pulses act more through a shock effect, while longer ones act more through heat. Results vary by person.
Good to know
- Ask which mode your plan uses and why.
- Handpieces and wavelengths are selected by target color and depth.
- Stinging or a rubber-band snap feeling is common.
- Temporary redness, swelling, crusts, or dark spots can follow.
Asking about Discovery Pico in English
Ask the coordinator to confirm "Discovery Pico by Quanta System" in writing. Some clinics use the word "Discovery" for several devices, so the full name is helpful.
Ask the doctor what "Q-switched" and "picosecond" mean for your plan. Short answers might be: Q-switched pulses are longer, and picosecond pulses are shorter. Then ask why one is picked for your skin and whether you could switch later. Note the mode on your record.
Discovery Pico: common questions
Is picosecond always better than Q-switched?
Not always. Each mode has uses. The provider chooses based on the target.
Can one machine treat tattoos and pigment?
It can be used for both, with different settings. Ask what is planned for you.
What if I have a tan?
Tell the doctor. A tan can change how safe or suitable a laser treatment is.
